Abstract:

Bi2O3 nanowires were synthesized from NaOH and Bi(NO3)3 · 5H2O with surfactants oleic acid, heptane and acetone added at room-temperature. The nanowires have a diameter of about 50nm and a length in the range of several to tens of micrometers. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were employed to characterize the structure and morphology of these structures. The cathode array was prepared by screen-printed. The field emission of the sample started at a turn-on field of 2.6 V/μm at a current density of 0.1 μA/cm2. This type of Bi2O3 nanowires can be applied as field emitters in displays as well as vacuum electric devices.
