Abstract:
The retentate from membrane bioreactor (MBR) and nanofiltration (NF) combined process for incineration leachate is difficult to be treated due to high content of refractory organic matter and inorganic salt. Taking into consideration of the components of refractory organic matter in the rtentate are mainly humic substances (HS), the pilot-scale experiments were conducted to investigate separation and recovery of HS from MBR-NF retentate of incineration leachate by ultrafiltration (UF). The results showed that the UF could effectively separate and purity organic matter in the MBR-NF retentate from inorganic ions. The data indicate that separation factor (SF) is strongly correlated with concentration factor (CF). The content of HS in the recovering sample was more than 36 g/L, and the concentrations of heavy metals were lower than the content-limit of related standard. This study confirmed the feasibility of recovering HS from MBR-NF retentate of incineration leachate by UF.
