Abstract:

In this paper, a method of small scale wind field display and wind motion simulation is introduced. First, using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) algorithm to calculate the wind speed and wind direction data in the complex terrain. Then building terrain using DEM(Digital Elevation Model) data and OSG(Open Scene Graph) graphics engines. Then, DEM data combine with wind speed and wind direction data, the wind attributes corresponding to each grid are calculated. Attributes include speed of wind, wind direction, grid unit wind direction vector, unit terrain normal and material pointer. Then build the wind node, the wind node changes the wind node size, color, position and angle according to the wind property corresponding to the grid. Each grid shows the wind node of the grid wind property, and wind nodes displayed on the whole terrain can represent the wind field. During the simulation of wind motion, the wind node moves at each time and reads the attributes of the grid under the next position, so as to realize the simulation of wind motion. The method is proved to be feasible to show small scale wind field and simulated wind motion. © 2017 IEEE.
