Abstract:

In order to solve the problem that the ductility capacity of structures cannot be fully reflected by using a single structural response modification factor proposed in Chinese seismic design codes for design of buildings with different materials, values of the “capacity” of structural response modification factors and their variation rules are analyzed. 17 RC frame buildings with different fortification intensities(VI, VII, VIII)and storeys are designed according to the current code GB50011-2010. The OpenSees FE models of these buildings are verified by structure quasi-static test data. For these 17 RC frames, structural seismic responses are analyzed by nonlinear static procedures(NSP). Results show that for VI, VII, VIII RC frames designed by GB50011-2010, the minimum values of “capacity” of structural response modification factors are 15, 10 and 5 respectively. The minimum value is more conservative than that in UBC Formulas. Conclusion is that using the values of “capacity” of structural response modification factors, structural ultimate strengths and inelastic deformations in critical collapsed state can be estimated ©, 2015, The Editorial Department of Journal of SJZU.
