Abstract:
In order to render brake composite environmental friendly and promote waste materials recycling, different amount of rice husk powder, an agricultural by-product, were added as fillers, modified phenolic resin as matrix, bamboo fiber, magnesium whisker and calcium sulfate whisker as reinforced phase, graphite and copper powder as friction performance regulator. Hot pressing molding was used to make a new type of environment-friendly friction material. And the mechanical properties and tribological properties of the composites were studied. The results show that, with the increase of rice husk powder content, the impact strength of specimen increased first and then declined, however, the rockwell hardness decreased continuously. As the amount of rice husk powder increased, the friction coefficients also increased first and then decreased. At high temperature, rice husk powder as filler promoted the formation of the friction layer, stabilized the friction coefficient, and improved the heat recession. In addition, it increased the heat resistance and thermal stability. When rice husk powder content was 15%, its comprehensive performance is the best. ©, 2015, Science Press. All right reserved.
