Study on Coordinated Development of Logistics Industry in Coastal City Cluster on Western Side of Taiwan Straits
Translated Abstract
In this paper, based on the fundamental indicator data of the coastal city cluster on the western side of the Taiwan Straits for the period between 2005 and 2015, we used the social network analytic program to build the logistics industry association network based on the gravity matrix, finding that Xiamen and Quanzhou were at the center of the network, acting as the medium and bridge between peripheral cities such as Shanwei and Jieyang with other cities;the network density of the city cluster was constantly increasing, indicating the ties within the cluster were increasingly closer;however, it should be noted that the central cities must not be over-relied upon, otherwise, the logistics resources would be excessively deployed to the central cities, making the peripheral cities more susceptible to their sway. Next, we analyzed the degree of coordination of the logistics industry, showing that there existed significant difference between the internal degree of coordination of the logistics industry of the cities and the degree of coordination of the logistics industry of the city cluster as a whole was increasing. At the end, we proposed the corresponding policy suggestions.
