Abstract:

A series of Pt/Ba/ACZ (ACZ = Al2O3-Ce0.6Zr0.4O2) with different Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 loading were prepared and well characterized by XRD, N2 physisorption, H2-TPR, XAFS and STEM-mapping. NOx storage and reduction (NSR) performances of Pt/Ba/ACZ were initially evaluated using NOx storage capacity and NOx conversion. XRD analysis proves the formation of Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 solid solution, with the presence of which the surface area of ACZ support slightly decreases. STEM-mapping indicates that the addition of Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 improves the dispersion of Pt. A strong interaction between Pt and Ce was confirmed by XAFS experiments. H2-TPR analysis shows that the addition of Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 can promote the redox properties, which is beneficial for enhancing NSR performance. Meanwhile, Pt/Ba/50 wt%Al2O3-50 wt%C0.6Zr0.4O2 shows the superior NSR performances, strong resistance against SO2 and good regeneration ability. Repeated H2-TPR analysis shows that the desulfation is easier for sulfated Pt/Ba/50 wt%Al2O3-50 wt%C0.6Zr0.4O2 compared to Pt/Ba/Al2O3. Moreover, N2 selectivity decreases with increasing H2 concentration from 1 to 5%. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved .
