Abstract:
Because of the disadvantages, such as larger error and poor flexibility, in visual speed measuring systems, a novel method based on view geometry with uncalibrated camera is proposed to detect the speed of objects on the conveyor belt. The proposed method first extract reference points and feature points by off-line and on-line image processing algorithms, then by combining with the visual geometry algorithm, the displacement of the workpiece can be calculated within the images of adjacent frames, and the time to capture and process the image of adjacent frames is recorded at the same time. Finally, the speed of moving object is calculated by the kinematics formula. Utilizing the uncalibrated camera visual system to detect the speed of the workpiece cannot only compensate for the inflexibility of calibrated camera system, but also reduce the impact of the camera calibration error and lens distortions. Theexperimental results show that the proposed method is more flexible and can get a higher precision. © 2016, Science Press. All right reserved.
