Abstract:

Organogel can solidify and trap liquid oil and showed a solid-like rheological property, and the application of organogels to structure liquid oils had become an active area of research in the past years. In this study, we examined the effect of bonding mixture of β-sitosterol and γ-oryzanolas as organogel on animal nutrition physiological function by the rat feeding test, including the high risk factor of cardiovascular disease. With feed of margarine structured by bonding mixture of β-sitosterol and γ-oryzanolas, there was no adverse effects on rats. The results showed that, rat body weight of experimental groups was lower than the control group, and the high dose group was the lowest. Meanwhile, the data implied that the increasing dose of sterol organogel can promote accumulation of adipose tissue in the part of testosterone and kidney of rats. In addition, the rats serum total cholesterol, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein levels were decreased with the increasing amount of organogel, which indicated that sterol organogel had better effect on the risk of antiatherosclerosis. © 2016, Dept. of JCCOA.
