Abstract:

Composite material of HBSL/nano-silica is prepared by high boiling solvent lignin and nano-silica, and then characterized. The composite is used as the reinforcing agent in ethylene-propylene rubber, and it can increase the hardness of rubber and improve the resistance to ageing. The elongation at break of the rubber is increased from 165% to 229%, but the tensile strength has reduced slightly. The ratio of nano-silica in the composite is an important factor to the performance of rubber, and the optimum ratio is 5%.
