Abstract:
A total of 22 concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) columns with corrugated steel webs were tested, taking slenderness ratio and eccentricity ratio as key parameters. Load-deflection curves, strains in tubes and corrugated webs of the specimens are analyzed. Test results show that the mechanical behavior of CFST columns with corrugated steel webs is similar with that of CFST laced columns. The ultimate load is decreased with the increase of slenderness ratio and eccentric ratio, and the influence of slenderness ratio and eccentricity ratio on the ultimate load-carrying capacity is independent, product of the two reduction factors due to them can be applied to take the effect of them into consideration in the calculation of load-carrying capacity. The influence of shear deformation on the ultimate load-carrying capacity of CFST columns with corrugated steel webs should be considered. However, the shear deformation in CFST columns with corrugated web is smaller than that in CFST laced columns due to the higher shearing resistance of corrugated steel web. Based on calculation method for the critical load of columns with solid section, the method for the calculation of stability factor for CFST columns with corrugated webs is proposed.
