Abstract:
Acetic acid dehydration system is an important unit to achieve acetic acid recovery in the production of PTA. In view of energy saving and consumption reduction, the use of sec-butyl acetate (SBA) as entrainer and extractant for the acetic acid dehydration process was proposed in this paper, to replace isobutyl acetate (IBA) solvent in traditional process. An acetic acid dehydration unit in petrochemical enterprises in Jiangsu Province was simulated by Aspen Plus. The feasibility of using SBA solvent instead of IBA was investigated, and the process was systematically optimized. The steady state results demonstrate that when SBA is used as extractant and entrainer, the design requirements of acetic acid hydration system can be satisfied through changing the oil phase reflux ratio from 0.83 to 0.84 and adjusting the aqueous phase reflux ratio from 0.22 to 0.234 with the other operating parameters unchanged. Under this condition, steam consumption can save 2.71×104 t/a and the loss of solvent can be reduced 578 t/a. © 2019, Editorial Office of "CHEMICAL ENGINEERING" (CHINA). All right reserved.
