Abstract:

The residual current circuit breaker with permanent magnet is the most widely used type of switchgear, which is small in size, cost-effective and flexible in operation. However, as the core component current release of the circuit breaker, the operational characteristics of the current release are affected by many factors such as magnetic material characteristics, processing technology, environment, etc., resulting in extremely unstable operation characteristics. In this paper, the overall motion performance and influencing factors are analyzed and simulated in detail through the establishment of 3D finite element model of current release with permanent magnet. Moreover, the key parameters affecting the process of holding, demagnetizing and tripping are sought, by changing the structural parameters, permanent magnet position and material properties. In the working current range, aiming at reducing the tripping time and expanding the adjustable range of the tripping force, the relationship between the key parameters of the release are explored, and the theory is provided to improve the performance index of the release. © 2019 by International Academic Publishers Ltd.
