The Understanding of Other People’s Intentions in College Students with Social Anxiety
Translated Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the differences of the delay interpretation and the instant interpretation among college students with different levels of social anxiety in ambiguous social scenarios. Methods: 53 college students completed all the tests, including 30 subjects with high social anxiety and 23 subjects with low social anxiety. The Intention Assessment Scale was used to measure the delayed interpretation bias and E-prime procedure was used to measure the instant interpretation bias. Results: There were no significant differences of delayed interpretation (ps > 0.05) and immediate interpretation (t = 1.07, p > 0.05) among college students with different levels of social anxiety in ambiguous social scenarios. There are gender differences of the interpretation bias in college students with high social anxiety.
