Abstract：
The title complex, [Mn 2L 2(EtOH) 2(bipy)(ClO 4) 2 [L = N, N′-ethylenebis (1-phenyl-3-imino-1-butanonato), bipy = 4, 4′-bipyridine] crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P2 1/c with a=12. 630(5), b = 13.151(2), c = 18. 377 (5) Å, β = 108. 25(2)°, V = 2899(2) Å 3, D c = 1. 43 g/cm 3, F(000) = 1300, M r = 1249. 96, μ(MoKα) = 0. 578 mm -1, Z = 2 and final R = 0. 056 and R w = 0. 068 for 3001 reflections (I≥3σ(I)). The two [MnL(EtOH)] + units are joined by one 4, 4′-bipyridine molecule to form a centrosymmetric binuclear complex cation [Mn 2L 2 (EtOH) 2(bipy)] 2+. The coordination geometry around Mn atoms is a distorted octahedron with equatorial plane N 2O 2 from the Schiff base ligand L.
