Abstract　1,4　-　bis[2　-　(3,4,5　-　trimethoxyphenyl)　vinyl]　benzene　(abbreviated　as　HPV),　one　of　the　organic　conducting　materials,　was　synthesized　by　electro　-　reductively　promoted　Wittig　reaction.　A　cylindrical　sleeve　cell　with　a　diaphragm　was　used　.　The　product　was　determined　to　be　a　light　yellow　mixture　of　three　kinds　of　isomers　of　the　title　compound,　29.4%　cis　-　cis,　44.7%　cis　-　trans,　25.9%　trans　-　trans　isomers.　The　yield　of　the　product　was　92%,　m.p.　103　-　155°C.
