Abstract:
The graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) onto corn starch initiated by potassium persulfate (KPS) was studied. The effect of the concentration of acrylamide and potassium persulfate, temperature, and polymerization time on graft percentage and grafting efficiency were high when [AM] = 1.2 mol/L, [KPS] = 4-5 mmol/L, and the reaction is carried out at ∼ 60°C for 4 hr.
