Abstract:
In this paper, a complexity-reduced turbo decoding scheme by using concatenated BCH codes is presented. Multiple BCH coded packets with different length are used to form one data frame for turbo encoding. With error correction capability, BCH codes can help to lower down the overall decoding error floor. Furthermore, with the excellent error detection capability of BCH codes, the correctly decoded short packets could be detected early and used to constrain the turbo decoding trellis. Both improvement in decoding performance and reduction in decoding complexity are observed in simulations.
