This　paper　summarizes　the　main　characteristics　and　the　development　history　of　Nyonya　costume　based　on　the　field　survey　conducted　in　Southeast　Asia　(Singapore　and　Malaysia).　Typical　patterns　and　characteristics　of　the　Nyonya　costume　during　the　periods　of　before　and　after　the　19th　century　are　further　elaborated.　Moreover,　the　relationship　between　the　traditional　Chinese　costume　culture　and　the　pattern　of　Nyonya　costume　are　analysed　and　it　is　expected　that　they　will　provide　reference　for　studying　the　overseas　development　of　Chinese　costume　culture.　Finally,　new　possibilities　in　the　development　of　traditional　Nyonya　costume　are　discussed　from　the　perspectives　of　intelligent　material　and　intelligent　wear.　©　(2019)　Textile　Bioengineering　and　Informatics　Symposium　Proceedings　2019　-　12th　Textile　Bioengineering　and　Informatics　Symposium,　TBIS　2019.　All　rights　reserved.
