Abstract:

The concentration distribution and the effectiveness factor of a catalyst pellet can be obtained by solving the reaction-diffusion equation. However, most of the differential equations have no analytical solution except for some simple cases. Hence, a method is proposed to solve the non-linear reaction-diffusion equation with a second-order reaction in a spherical catalyst pellet as an example.
