Abstract:
In order to satisfy the requirements of remote acquisition, remote query and collaborative remote editing, modification and analysis for multi-user on distributed spatial data, a Collaborative Geographical Information System (CoGIS) was developed. CoGIS has provided solutions to important problems including: conflicts of simultaneous editing spatial data among distributed users, collaboration and group perception of data manipulation among users, and heterogeneous problem of data or messages transfer across different platforms. To effectively deal with collaboration, a systematic structure of CoGIS based on multi-Agent was brought forward. Design and realization of communication mechanism and concurrency control mechanism of CoGIS were provided, and the communication interfaces of delivery layer and representation layer were designed. A prototype of CoGIS was developed and was used in planning and design application system.
