Abstract:
Three kinds of three-dimensional base isolation and overturn-resistance devices(3D-BIORD) were developed, in view of the limitation that there were less kind of structural three-dimensional base isolators and the existent bearings did not have the ability of overturn-resistance. The basic idea was that horizontal isolation sub-devices and vertical isolation sub-devices of these bearings were connected in series in the vertical direction, considering the demand of overturn-resistance of the whole device. The difference of three kinds of bearings were adopting different vertical isolation sub-devices, they were ring spring bearing, disk spring bearing and thick rubber bearing. Press-shear tests of horizontal isolation sub-devices, also called pull resistance rubber bearings(PRRB), were carried out using electro-hydraulic servo press-shear machine. Vertical property tests of PRRBs and vertical isolation sub-devices were performed using electronic universal testing machine. Test results showed that PRRBs had the anticipated capacities of overturn-resistance and displacement restriction, and did not change the primary properties; vertical isolation sub-devices had enough bearing capacity and proper stiffness. Loading frequency had no influence on properties of spring bearings.
