Abstract:
In order to better render and access geographical data in Web browsers and resolve the bottleneck problem caused by a large number of simultaneous spatial analyses in WebGIS, this paper first makes mapping between the space objects and the SVG(scalable vector graphics) labels using the real time interaction of SVG, so that the space data can be easily released in the Web browsers and the users are able to conveniently access and manipulate geographical data. Then a novel WebGIS model is proposed, which utilizes the computing ability of the Web browsers. This model is different from the traditional distributed computing systems as it can promote cooperative work between the server and the Web browsers and can quickly accomplish huge computing tasks in parallel. Finally, a prototype system is realized to verify the feasibility and the advantage of the model.
