Abstract:
The emphasis of bridge health monitoring should be placed on safety alarming. The Bachimen Bridge, a continuous rigid-frame bridge, was selected as the engineering background in this paper. Firstly, the structural health monitoring of the Bridge was briefly introduced. Secondly, the methods of monitoring data processing and determination of normal limit values of safety assessment were investigated. Furthermore, dynamic updating of the finite element model was conducted on the basis of structural health monitoring, and the baseline finite element (FE) model of the Bridge was then established and verified. Finally, the safety threshold values of safety assessment of the Bridge were determined using the baseline FE model. Conclusions are drawn from monitoring and FE analysis as follows: The health monitoring system of the Bridge can meet the basic requirements of bridge health monitoring and safety assessment; the methods for determination of normal limit values based on long-term health monitoring and safety threshold values based on the baseline FE model can provide scientific basis for setting of the safety alarming values of the bridge health monitoring system.
