Whole process numerical analysis of concrete filled steel tube stubs with initial stress under axial compression

Abstract:

Hooping effect is the mainly character of concrete filled steel tube (CFST) structures. The whole process subjected axial load of CFST stub with initial stress is analyzed by numerical method. Analyses results indicate that the presence of initial stress has a significant effect on the hooping effect, initial stress make the elastic-plastic phase appeared ahead and the hooping effect appeared postponable. However, the shift of hooping effect factor can't influence too much to the decreasing trends of load-carrying capacity. Finally, some advices and calculated methods have been presented, which can be used in practice.
