Abstract:

A new method for automatic image registration was proposed, which included the scale space projection and feature matching. Based on scale-invariance of Harris-Laplace the scale space projection applied Harris-Laplace detector to extract image feature, then, a feature space on the projection information in the direction of feature main orientation was constructed, making feature space rotation-invariant and resolution-invariant. The feature matching adopted feature space k-d tree distance matching to combine with RANSAC, which implemented feature matching effectively and satisfactorily. The experiments and comparison analyses showed that this method can perform automatic image registration accurately in the different resolutions and rotations.
