Abstract：

Web　service　composition　(WSC)　is　an　ongoing　technology　to　integrate　multiple　distributed　services　to　fulfill　special　business　object　and　has　gained　lots　of　interest　from　academic　and　industry.　In　this　paper,　we　present　a　review　of　the　recent　literatures　of　WSC　according　to　the　procedure　of　web　service　composition.　At　first,　we　describe　the　formal　definition　and　steps　of　service　composition;　Secondly,　the　progress　of　relate　techniques　of　WSC　are　discussed　including　service　description,　service　discovery,　process　generation,　process　evaluation,　security　protection　and　exception　handling.　Finally,　the　limitations　of　current　approaches　and　future　directions　are　presented.
