Abstract:
A method for camera calibration based on orthogonal vanishing point pair is proposed to improve the precision and flexibility of camera calibration. The method only requires camera to shoot a simple self-designed planar calibration pattern for a few (at least three) different unknown views. According to the properties of vanishing point and the geometry feature of the planar calibration pattern, two geometry constraints can be found between orthogonal vanishing point pair and calibration matrix. And then all the five intrinsic parameters of the camera can be recovered linearly. Both computer simulation and real experiment data were used to test the proposed method. Experimental results of simulated data and real data show that the proposed method is more accurate and robust.
