Abstract:
The thermal field test and analysis of a concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) truss arch bridge were carried out in this paper. The analysis results demonstrate that the temperature distributions on the top and bottom chords of the CFST truss arch are similar in the series parallel to the direction of sunshine movement. And the temperature distribution on the left and right chords are similar in the series perpendicular to the direction of sunshine movement. The temperature distribution and the average temperature of each chord are similar to those of a singular tube CFST rib. The axis orientation of the arch rib has little influence on the average temperature in the arch rib section. The average temperature of the web members is higher than that of the chord members if there exists solar radiation, wheras the difference is small without solar radiation. The average temperature in each chord is so similar that the thermal stress caused by the average temperature difference of each chord can be neglected. The temperature difference between the web and chord members also can be omitted in calculation because it will only result very small thermal stress. Therefore, the same temperature can be used for the web and chord members in the thermal stress calculation of to CFST rruss arch rib.
