Based　on　the　concept　of　dispersed　networked　design　and　manufacturing,　and　on　the　principle　of　Web　and　CORBA　technology,　a　multi-layer　architecture　for　a　dispersed　networked　CAD/CAM　system　(DNCADMS)　of　a　motorcycle　is　presented　in　this　paper.　For　solving　the　data　sharing　problem　under　a　heterogeneous　database　environment,　the　concept　of　meta-database　and　a　Java-based　integrated　mechanism　for　the　dispersed　native　databases　have　been　put　forward.　The　ideas　and　some　key　techniques　of　implementing　the　DNCADMS　are　also　discussed　in　the　paper.　(C)　2002　Published　by　Elsevier　Science　B.V.
