Abstract:
The transparent and homogeneous RE:YVO4 crystals have been grown by Czochralski method. The room temperature absorption spectra have been measured. The spectroscopic properties have been studied for rare earth-doped (Tm3+, Er3+, Yb3+)RE: YVO4. According to Judd-Ofelt theory, the spectral strength parameters: Omega(2) = 1.13 x 10(-20) cm(2), Omega(4) = 1.63 x 10(-20) cm(2) and Omega = 0.65 x 10(-20) cm(2) of Er3+ ion have been fitted, and the radiative transtition probabilities A(JJ'), oscillator strengths f(JJ'), and radiative lifetime tau have been calculated. We report the results of cross energy transfer processes between Tm3+ and Yb3+ ions, and the sensitization between Tm3+ and Er3+ ions.
