Abstract:
Conductivity is important in the investigation of the micellization behavior of ionic surfactants in an aqueous solution. We review this sensitive technique and discuss methods to determine the critical micelle concentration (cmc) and the degree of dissociation of the micelle (alpha) in detail. We also investigate a special situation analysis for conductivity curves and premicellar behavior. This method is useful for the investigation of surfactant systems in which strong intermolecular interactions occur.
