Abstract:
FeCoCrNiMnTi0.1Ca0.1 (TiC10 alloy) high-entropy alloy (HEA) was successfully prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) and vacuum hot-pressing sintering (VHPS) at different temperatures (850, 900, 950 and 1000 degrees C). During the MA process, the constituent elements were gradually alloyed and formed FCC solid solutions. The microstructure of bulk TiC10 alloy is mainly composed of FCC phase as the matrix phase and a small quantity of M23C6, M7C3 and TiMnO3 phases. The TiC10 alloy has relatively good comprehensive mechanical properties when sintered at 900 degrees C. The yield strength and hardness of the alloy reached 1652 MPa and 461 HV, respectively. In this study, a close relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties was discussed. Grain boundary strengthening is the dominant strengthening mechanism.
